<image:caption>I served as one of the lead Carpenters in constructing the 2009 Temple at Burning Man. The temple featured over 300 decorative panels carved with a Computer operated CNC set up. I also led a team of 8 riggers working with 3 cranes to assemble the temple. It took about a month to build, was visited by an estimated 35,000 people in the week of the event and then was burned in a final ceremony at the end. Due to all the CNC carvings the strong yet light structure was gone in less then an hour.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Story: A volunteer is asked to participate in an undersea exploration using an underwater avatar. They put on a helmet and then get to pilot the avatar through the undersea world encountering living undersea creatures friend and foe. This Augmented reality project was created by myself, Mark Liang and Kyle Wolf. We Built our own augmented reality helmet with a motorcycle helmet from Craig's List and and an Ipad. We used a mix of live action costumes, special effects and decorations for the "real scene" then created a variety of computer generated 3D animated creatures to that would be projected into the scene whenever the helmet sensed a QR code. The codes were placed where we wanted the 3D images projected. One entire wall was replaced by a moving ocean of animations. The person in the helmet would even see webbed claws when they looked down at their own hands. At one point all the swimming fish are suddenly frightened away as a snaggle toothed sea monster suddenly comes rushing at the explorers. In addition to the AR Helmet we enabled smart phones and IPads to also crete the augmented reality so more people could participate.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This Chair was designed originally as a furniture project exploring the strengths of combining cardboard without glue. It was later entered in a competition called the "Iron Chair Competition" in Sacramento. The chair took first place overall for best design and also won the weight competition. It outlasted all the other chairs which had weights piled upon them until they collapsed. It was up to 530 pounds before the judges declared it was not necessary to keep going and destroy the chair since the second place chair had already collapsed over 130 pounds earlier.</image:caption>
